Grilled Cheese, Big Cheers: Troop 478’s Iron Chef Cook-Off
Six Scouts. Three nights. One delicious finale.
Troop 478 Scouts Elliot A, Luke D, Luke F, Dane G, Julian S, and Jaxson T spent October 6, 13, and 20 working on their Cooking merit badge with counselors ASM Keith Young and Tom Turner. The three-night program wrapped up with a little friendly competition: a Troop 478 Iron Chef–inspired cook-off featuring grilled cheese and chicken noodle soup!
With camp kitchen bragging rights on the line, the Scouts put their skills to work. Congratulations to our winners, Julian S and Luke F, and all six Scouts for taking on the challenge!
A huge thank-you goes to ASM Keith Young and Tom Turner for giving their time across three evenings to help our Scouts build confidence in the kitchen. Opportunities like these happen because caring leaders show up, share what they know, and make learning fun.
The cook-off may be finished, but the cooking adventure continues. These Scouts still have a handful of in-the-field requirements to complete before officially earning their Cooking merit badges. Upcoming outings will give them opportunities to keep practicing and bring those skills to the campsite.
We’re looking forward to seeing what’s on the menu next!
